Additional Tips
Remember: Every subject taught in math class is built upon the comprehension of another, previously taught subject. If you don't understand something, let someone know!

Some learning difficulties stem from listening problems. Practice listening to people and practice being able to understand what they are saying, and repeat it to them. This may seem like a dull exercise, but if it works, use it!

Read out loud to someone every day. As you practice reading, you will get better at it, and so will your comprehension.
Look for patterns in every subject--not only math. There are patterns in spelling words as well as in math. The better you get at reading and writing, the better you will do in school!
Help yourself remember things better by drawing pictures of them in your notebook. If you can think of a picture that might help you remember, draw it!
Help yourself remember things better by associating them with a song! Sing instructions to the tune of your favorite song--I bet you remember them easier!
